What Your Style Says About You

Not many women are born with a natural sense of style and fashion.  It takes years to develop your style and to figure out what makes you happy, what makes you feel authentic, and what represents you.  Usually by the age of 40 you have more self confidence and a better sense of who you are and who you want to be.

Personal style is a form of self-expression that is about how you dress and put outfits together.  You are a blank canvas, and you have an opportunity to be creative and also to tell the world who you are through your wardrobe.  Your wardrobe speaks volumes about your personality so you want to dress with intention.  

There are many things that will influence your wardrobe, such as career choice, lifestyle, social status, and personal preference.  Even though your wardrobe will be influenced by these things, it is important that your style authentically tells the world who you are.  Magic happens when you align your body shape, your best colors, and line and design with your personality.

There are Seven Main Style Personalities:

• Feminine

• Dramatic

• Natural

• Creative

• Alluring

Most women are a combination of two to three of these style personalities

Classic Style

Also known as Traditional.  If you are a Classic woman, you are not trendy and you have a solid and timeless air about you.  Your style sends a message of authority, credibility, respect, and maturity.  You prefer solids over prints, and semi-fitted styles over shapeless or oversized.  Your closet will be filled with timeless pieces that are versatile.  

Feminine Style

Can also be called Romantic.  If your style is Feminine, you have a soft, gentle look about you.  Your appearance is natural and you are drawn toward finer things in life.  Your favorite style is soft and flowing, without much structure.  You love soft colors, soft textures, and feminine patterns such as florals and watercolor prints.  Your accessories are small and delicate.

Dramatic Style

Also known as Striking.  If you are a Dramatic woman you probably create and encourage excitement in your life.  You love to take charge and do it well with confidence and authority.  Your wardrobe is colorful and you take great pride in each detail of your appearance.  You love structured styles, geometric or abstract prints, high fashion, and medium to large scale accessories.  

Natural Style

If you are Natural or Sporty, you are easy going, friendly, informal and down to earth.  You are not very concerned about your look beyond your own natural beauty, and you prefer casual, comfortable clothing over anything else.  You gravitate toward the outdoors and outdoor activities.  You like the unrestricted movement of sportswear and fabrics that are easy care.  Your wardrobe is full of relaxed styles that are sporty and casual, and you love natural fabrics.

Creative Style

If you are Creative you are artistic, unconventional, confident and inspired.  You have a style all your own.  You can take garments and accessories that most people would never put together and you blend them beautifully.  You have a wonderful sense of your style and you don’t follow anyone else’s.  You love mixing colors, textures, and different styles together in unconventional ways with creative accessories.

Elegant Style

The Elegant or Chic style is a mature style.  You are often the best dressed woman in the room.  You love classic formal styles, superb tailoring, expensive fabrics and rich, elegant colors.  You always have a manicure and pedicure and your hair is always perfectly styled.  You prefer understated designs that are in luxury natural fabrics. Your accessories are genuine or quality faux jewelry.

Alluring Style

Alluring or Sexy is an attitude just as much as it is a style for you.  Your styles are often form fitting and low cut.  You are glamorous and have an unmistakable style that is a blend of inner beauty and attention to detail. You focus on maintaining your figure which attracts attention wherever you go.   You love shiny and glittery fabrics, knits, and mainly solid colors.  

Defining Your Personal Style

Whether you are dressing intentionally or not, you make a statement to others when they first see you.  Your choice of style, fabric, color, quality and age of your garments will tell people who you are.  You can choose what you want others to think rather than to throw something on and have others judge you according to how you look.
